A Virtual Visit
Location
The private and secluded Gorilla Sanctuary will sit high in the pineapple country of West Maui, between Kapalua and Lahaina, overlooking the Pacific Ocean-and the islands of Molokai and Lanai.
In contrast, we plan to locate the Koko Visitor Center in beautiful downtown Lahaina, an oceanside tourist center that attracts millions of visitors per year. This will enable the public to witness and participate in the interspecies communication and conservation work of the Sanctuary, without disturbing the privacy of the gentle creatures who will live there.

Visitor Center
The Koko Visitor Center, planned for downtown Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, will provide an exclusive opportunity for the public to "visit" the Gorilla Sanctuary without actually travelling there. Features of the Visitor Center may include:
- A "Virtual" Interspecies Communication Pagoda with a large wrap-around screen enabling visitors to experience the Sanctuary as if they were looking through the eyes of a gorilla caregiver.
- Computer-based Learning Kiosks to provide a powerful educational opportunity for the public to become aware of the crisis gorillas and other great apes are facing in Africa, and the actions they can take to avert their imminent extinction. These kiosks will also teach visitors enough sign language to enable them to experience interspecies communication first hand.
- A Gorilla Art Gallery featuring the beautiful paintings of Koko and Michael, to open yet another window into the emotional lives and intellects of gorillas.
- A café (Koko Café) and gift shop (Koko Mart) to create a family environment and help fund the critical conservation, research and educational mission of the Gorilla Foundation and its partners/sponsors.
- A Koko Museum including memorabilia from the 28 year history of Project Koko-the world's longest interspecies communication study with gorillas.
There are excellent opportunities for the right corporate sponsor(s), including naming rights such as the Koko-Sponsor Visitor Center.

An ideal corporate candidate would have a product or technology that is closely linked to one or more features of the Koko Visitor Center, and embrace a value system that is environmentally sensitive. Of particular interest are companies specializing in:
