[title] => Koko, you"re not double-dipping again are you?
[body] => Koko eats veggies out of a container, including some small carrot sticks. Bet she"s wishing she had a dip to go with it.

People are always surprised at the volume of raw vegetables (we call it "produce" or "browse") that Koko and other gorillas can eat in one day. It"s not unusual for Koko to have 4-5 heads of lettuce per day, plus lots of other veggies, fruits, complex carbs, and of course protein. It"s what it takes to keep a gorilla healthy in captivity, plus a little intellectual enrichment and personal communication to keep them happy. [title] => Answer to Koko"s Halloween Quiz (what was she doing?)
[body] => In the KokoPix posted on Nov. 4, Koko Extends Halloween, there was a photo of Koko behind her porch mesh, with what appeared to be a cat-featured jackolantern on her chest, and another jackolantern facing her from outside the mesh.

What you were really looking at was the reflection of the outside jackolantern on the "glass" windo just in front of Koko (and behind the mesh). An interesting optical illusion? makes you want to question your interpretation of anything seen with only the eyes.

[title] => What is Koko thinking or remembering?
[body] => Koko reviews some of her recent gifts, and seems to be taking a special interest in her Madeline doll. Is she looking for the appendix scar that identifies "real" Madeline dolls? Some of you may recall that Koko used a Madeline doll to indicate where "she" needed an operation before her gum surgery (see KokoPix 8/14/2004).

What some of you may not know (but may be wondering) is that Koko"s memory is extremely accurate, often better than her human caregivers. KokoPix is just one of the many tools we use to augment our only too human brains. Perhaps Koko"s brain is less burdened with noisy thought processes (?)
