Allison Fockler
Gorilla Caregiver / Researcher
Ever since she was a small child Allison's passion for animals has driven her to learn more about them and the natural systems they inhabit. Growing up, she was very active in animal welfare, working with local humane societies and competing nationally in equestrian sports. She also competed in dog shows and raised a variety of farm animals for 4-H. She had heard about the Gorilla Foundation from her childhood book, Koko's Kitten and has had an immense respect for these amazing creatures ever since.
Her love for animals and her desire to conserve their natural habitats has led her to a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, Wildlife Biology, and Conservation from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. Throughout her college career Ally has worked with a variety of animals including dogs, cougars, bighorn sheep, pronghorn antelope, birds of prey, prairie dogs, and a variety of other native Rocky Mountain wildlife. She was also active in wildlife rehabilitation and educating the public about our world's amazing creatures.
Working for the Gorilla Foundation is a dream come true for Allison, and she hopes to share all the amazing things that Koko teaches us every day. She is very excited to be a part of the Gorilla Foundation team and hopes to apply her skills to facilitate conservation through communication and support the amazing gorilla ambassadors, Koko and Ndume. |
