[title] => Gaining the trust of a gorilla ...
[body] => Koko doesn"t let just anyone take a photo like this. She has to really trust and like the photographer enough to sit still and continue doing what she was doing, unperturbed by the camera. Here, Koko calmly sucks on a tamarind pod while Dr. Ron Cohn"s camera clicks away.

What"s interesting about this photo is that Koko would never have sat anywhere near this building before the additional chutes were added - the chutes provide multiple entry/exit routes so that gorillas Koko and Ndume can cohabitate without feeling cramped. [title] => Does Koko think Hawaiian leis are "good?"
[body] => Koko loves garlands of Hawiian flowers, commonly called "lei"s. Whether they"re composed of real flowers (which she often eats) or "fake" ones, she seems to appreciate their beauty and enjoys wearing them.

In this photo, she may be signing "good" in response to the lei in front of her, but it"s not possible to know for sure without examining a "video" version. This is why the Gorilla Foundation is dedicated to bringing you more video content, both for research and educational purposes in the near future. (Stay tuned for a new feature called "KokoFlix" - now on the drawing board - which will complement KokoPix.)
